The Bay Area-based Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra is one of America’s premier ensembles dedicated to historically informed performance of Baroque, Classical, and newer music. Among the most recorded orchestras in the world, Philharmonia boasts a discography of nearly 50 recordings, including a GRAMMY-nominated recording of Haydn symphonies. Philharmonia is committed to bringing the music of the past to life with energy and relevance for today’s audiences. Under the baton of newly appointed Music Director Peter Whelan, vocalists Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen (countertenor), Lauren Snouffer (soprano), and Dashon Burton (bass-baritone) join a 25-member selection of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for a thrilling exploration of works by George Frideric Handel, with particular attention to the first Suite from Water Music, interspersed with three contemporary pieces from the Pulitzer and GRAMMY Award-winning composer Caroline Shaw. This cleverly curated program will offer an evening of Baroque tradition in direct dialogue with one of the modern era's most influential voices.
